In this 8-year longitudinal investigation of over 300,000 women in Europe, higher intake levels of ‘industrial’ trans fatty acids (used in frying oils, margarines and bakery products) were associated with elevated risk of breast cancer.

Research: Accurate colorectal cancer diagnosis using artificial intelligence

This study developed an artificial intelligence based approach to diagnose colorectal cancer using pathological whole-slide image patches from large-scale multicenter datasets, with the diagnostic accuracy comparable to that of expert pathologists.

Research: Puberty timing and cardiovascular risk

In a prospective birth cohort, the authors aimed to examine the association between puberty timing and markers of cardiovascular structure at age 25, concluding earlier puberty is not likely to have a major impact on pre-clinical cardiovascular risk in early adulthood.
